December Literacy Entry

In order to get students to practice their vocabulary in a "fun" way and keep all students involved and focused on the vocabulary, I made memory cards with the Spanish 2 word list for this unit. In one card I write the Spanish word, and in the other, I put a picture that matches that vocabulary word. Students enjoy this method of vocabulary practice, because they think they are getting away with a few minutes of play time rather than learning, but from what I have seen, they focus more on the words and carefully review their vocabulary list while playing which makes it easier for them to memorize. I think this is a good method to study and a variation from just looking at their list of words and going over it again and again. The way that I organize them so that they are not in one big group is by separating the class into groups of two or three students each. The cards are separated into equal parts among the groups and in order for them to see all of the vocabulary, the students rotate from station to station once they have finished with each set and another group has finished at their station.
